Able to grow more than 150 feet tall, Black Cottonwood lives all along riperian zones across the western United States. We collect the buds in the winter and spring when they are covered in a sticky resinous substance that contains salicin which was the historical origin of Aspirin. It's strong antiinflammatory properties make it an excellent for relieving tired muscles and joints. It can also be used as a healing salve for minor cuts, chapped skin, and burns. It's fragrance is reminiscent of sweet honey and amber.
